On 15 March 2010, the Ministry of Health, INSTAT and Institute of Public Health in collaboration with Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania, USAID, UNICEF, UNFPA launched the 2008-2009 Albania Demographic and Health Survey (ADHS), the first ever conducted in Albania.  The Survey collected data on demographic patterns, fertility, maternal and child health, HIV, nutrition, migration and the role of women. The Demographic and Health Survey was conducted from October 2008 to April 2009 and interviewed 8,994 households. It was run by INSTAT and the Institute of Public Health and was funded by the USAID, the Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. Assistance to ensure quality of the survey was provided by ICF MACRO.
